The Saint Anne community celebrates the Sacrament of Baptism on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. (except on occasions where there is a 5th Sunday). A preparation class for the parents is scheduled every other month at 7:30 p.m. Please call Laurie Hessman at the Rectory (201-791-1616) to register. The class may be attended during pregnancy.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is intended for those who wish to enter the Catholic faith, for those who come from other Christian Eccliesial communities, or for Catholics who need to be fully initiated with the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

Did You Know….. The Second Vatican Council looked back at how the early Church initiated  those who wanted to learn how to live as part of the Catholic community and restored the “catechumenate” process that we use today (which is also known as R.C.I.A.).

  • If you (or someone you know) are not a Catholic and you are curious about the Catholic faith,
  • Or, are Catholic but have not completed your sacraments:

We invite you to learn what Catholics believe in an open and welcoming environment! We have a set of sessions to share with others the beauty of the Catholic faith and the fellowship of our church family. These sessions are also opportunities for you to ask any questions you may have about the Church.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact Claire Liberato at 201-791-1616 ext. 224.

For Communion in the home, please contact the rectory at 201-791-1616.

First Eucharist

Typically, children receive the Sacrament during their 2nd year in faith formation classes. If a child begins faith formation in 3rd grade, he/she would receive Communion in 4th grade. If a child begins faith formation in 1st grade, he/she would receive Communion in 2nd grade. Before a child receives Communion, he/she receives the sacrament of Reconciliation.

Click here for more information on First Eucharist. (located on the Faith Formation page; scroll down for info)

In the Newark Archdiocese, there is no set age for a child to receive Confirmation. At Saint Anne Parish, currently our Parish Youth engage in Confirmation Preparation in their 8th grade year and are confirmed in the late spring of 8th grade.

The Confirmation program involves a Works of Mercy Project, an Advocate Project,  prayer experiences, several Sunday night sessions and attend the Sunday 6 pm Mass together during the school year. A child must have attended 7 consecutive years of Catholic Faith Formation or Catholic grammar school prior to enrolling in the Confirmation Preparation Program.

Congratulations on your engagement! We look forward to working with you to help you prepare not only for your wedding day but for living a lifelong partnership that is reflective of God's love for us.

Arrangements for marriage begin by setting a date with Fr. Joe or Fr. Sam ONE YEAR before the wedding. Call the Rectory at 201-791-1616 to speak with them.
