protecting gods children
"PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN " is a three-hour workshop designed to provide factual information about child sexual abuse in organizational settings. By providing participants with and understanding of abuse, they will be able to actively participate in prevention efforts.
A step-by-step process to prevent child sexual abuse in organizational settings is outlined and discussed. This nation-wide program was developed after careful analysis of situations that have occurred in churches and church-related programs of many faiths.
In addition to participating in the workshop, all church employees-both lay and religious- and volunteers who work with children must undergo a criminal background check. All catechists, hall monitors, principals, and adult classroom aides must participate in this program.
The office of Religious Education strongly recommends that all parents of school age children participate in "Protecting God's Children"
