pre-Cana MARRIAGE PREPARATION
The members of the Pre-Cana program presented Father Colin with new vestments to be used at weddings.
The Catholic Church teaches that marriage is created by God to be a permanent union of man and woman - an unbroken bond -Sacrament. Engaged couples preparing for marriage are witnesses to the Catholic Community of God's love in our midst. We welcome you and pray for your journey to married life.
If you are planning to be married ... here are some commonly asked questions:
- >How to begin? Once you are engaged, call the church offices to determine availability of dates for a wedding and marriage preparation.
- >How long in advance? At least 12 months before the date you wish to be married.
- >Who can be married at St. Anne? Any parishioner who is registered or lives within the parish boundaries.
- >Do I have to be Confirmed? No. The church does ask that you be open to being confirmed.
- >My future spouse is not Catholic ... can we be married in the Catholic Church? We welcome you and your future spouse.
- >Do we have to promise to raise our children in the Catholic faith? The Catholic party is asked to do all in his/her power to baptized and raise children in the Catholic Church.
- >My future spouse belongs to another faith and wants to be married in that church ... will the Catholic Church recognize my marriage? Yes, if you receive some preparation/marriage counseling in the Catholic Church. We will prepare the necessary paperwork for your marriage to be recognized in the Catholic Church.
- >One of us has been married before ... can we be married in the Church? Any previous marriage (Catholic or non-Catholic) is a potential obstacle to marriage in the Catholic Church. Please call the church offices to address your situation.
A marriage preparation program is for the engaged. The program is conducted by a Team of Married Couples from our parish together with one of the Priests on Staff. The program consists of two sessions that are offered twice a year
